Party Description
To give you a flavour of what you can expect from a MAD birthday party, here is a description of one given for James (aged 1). His guests ranged from tiny babies to 4 and 5 year olds, although the majority of children were also a year old.
James's MAD Party
It was Jamess first birthday and his mum, Sarah, decided to hire a hall and book MAD to come and do the party.
James and I have enjoyed attending the weekly MAD sessions and I wanted his first birthday party to be something he enjoyed, explained Sarah.
James loves music and dance and I thought it would be a little different.
The party leader arrived on the day with her sound system, large boxes of instruments and some great props, to get all the guests engaged. After welcoming all the children and introducing them all to Ralph, the MAD Mascot, she set the party mood with some great songs. The Hokey Cokey certainly got everyone on their feet and joining in parents as well as children!
Sarah loved being able to sit back and enjoy the party with James and her guests.
All I had to do was worry about the food and my son, as I could pass over total control to somebody else - great! Many of my friends came to the party alone but this did not matter as MAD soon had everybody joining in which proved to be a real ice-breaker.
As soon as the instrument box was brought out, the children swarmed to the centre of the room, eager to try out the huge array of drums, bells, tambourines, and xylophones. The room was suddenly full of music, and even if the parents couldnt make themselves heard, the children had a fantastic time!
As well as games, such as musical statues and guess the animal, the MAD party leader had brought with her one of Jamess favourite props the parachute!
James loved the parachute as its so bright and fun! said his mum afterwards. The children thought it was hilarious as the parachute was made to sail up and down over their heads, or ripple around them as they sat on it. And they couldnt wait to catch the balls that bounced frantically over the top, as their parents made waves with the fabric.
The party ended with a rousing chorus of happy birthday for James. All the children got to say good bye to Ralph and were given a sticker, before they headed off to attack the wonderful spread Sarah had laid on. They all went away with big grins on their faces!
So, what did Sarah think of her MAD party leader?
Great! She had bags of energy and was able to remain both fun and firm - the combination needed to control so many guests! I had many comments passed on to me expressing that she was worth her weight in gold!! Find out more
